28 Weeks!!

I can't believe that I have already made it to 28 weeks! This pregnancy has gone by so fast (at least the second trimester). At my appointment this past week, both boys were doing great. The doctor measured Baby A to be 1 lb 15 oz and Baby B to be 2 lb 12 oz. He said that he thinks he got a skewed measurement on B's head, though. He thinks both babies are right around 2 lbs, but B might be a little bigger. I can already tell that these boys are going to be little hooligans. Baby A likes to scare me by making me think he's asleep and then BAM! out of nowhere he kicks me so hard that I just about jump out of my skin! Baby B is much more calm, but he has made his little toes a permanent nest in my ribs :) These kids must be growing fast because I sure am! Here are some pictures :)

I think my 27 week picture looks even bigger than my 28 week picture. Sometimes my boys just like to play womb hockey and it changes my shape!

Ghost Town

Rock Springs is such an exciting place to live that we decided we would have more fun in a ghost town. So we packed a picnic and headed out to Winton yesterday. With our sense of direction, getting there was more than half the adventure :) We did eventually make it, and it turned out to be pretty fun!

Here are some pics of the biggest structure that you see when you first drive in.

"Hell bound" haha

I needed to use the bathroom, so I went behind the building and saw this beauty staring straight at me. Mr. Grim Reaper scared the pee right out of me!

And yes, it started hailing on us. Hard. Maybe the sign should have said "Hail Bound." Luckily the hail disappeared as quickly as it came. Here are some pictures of other things we found.
I think we found our new party spot :)

Contrary to popular belief, there is a tree in Wyoming.

Michael found a "trampoline."

He tore this building down himself.

Look how high he is! (That's the idea of 4/20 right??)

What a cute starter home!

Apparently, this town had worse drivers than Michael!

Michael, Michael, Michael

In case you couldn't guess from the title, this post is all about Michael :) He just does so many things to entertain me, I had to share them. (Don't worry, I have permission!) Luckily, he laughs at himself about as much as I do. Seriously, who needs cable when you live with this guy? Here are a few examples of things he does that keep me laughing.

1. He talks in his sleep.

In fact, these are some of my favorite conversations with him. Most of the time, he's not even speaking English. He'll just say a phrase made up of random sounds and repeat the phrase again and again, often becoming more adamant each time. But, as hard as I try to remember the phrase, I always forget what it was by morning. However, a few nights ago we had two conversations while he was sleeping and both times he was speaking English (sort of), so I remembered them and can now share them!

Michael- "It's such a nightmare."
Me- "What is?"
Michael- (1 minute of mumbling, trying to think of a word)
Me- "Seriously what?"
Michael- (more mumbling) then he says "the...the...troubles in the world" (seriously, it took him over a minute to think of the word "trouble")
Me-"What are you talking about?"
Michael- "The...the...Middle East"
Me- "Seriously?"
Michael- "Goodnight."

Later that night....
Michael- (gives a little triple cough)
Me- (give an imitation triple cough to see if he will talk)
Michael- "Tight the right might."
Me- "What?"
Michael- "Tight the right might."
Me- "Tight the right might?"
Michael- "Yes. It'll tell you what to do."

The best part is, he doesn't remember any of it when he wakes up. I need to start negotiating the budget with him while he's sleeping!

2. He messes up sayings and words.

Here are a few things he has said.

  • "He just wanted to shoot the wind with me." (shoot the breeze)
  • "The boys were begging hand and toe to play the Wii." (begging on hands and knees)
  • "She was only alive because the doctors were keeping her alive. Her mom made the decision to plug the tube." (pull the plug)
  • "I don't have enough glout to do that." (clout)
  • "This water is scolding hot!" (scalding)
  • Me at 6 months pregnant- (talking about a water tube) "How am I supposed to get on this thing?" Michael- "Like a breeched whale." (There are several issues with this one. #1 it's rude! And of course #2, he means beached whale)
Alright, we all forget sayings and words sometimes, but most of us just find a different way to say it when we are blanking lol...

3. He made a heroic attempt to change a diaper, even though he has no idea how.

So, the two of us were babysitting a 14 month old boy for a friend. I had to leave for 10 minutes, so he was on his own for a little bit. Of course, in that 10 minutes, the boy poops his pants. My sweet husband decides to try to change him.  First, he lays the boy down and takes off the dirty diaper. Then, not knowing what to do with it, decides to get up to go throw it away. So now, the diaper is in the trash but there's a child running around our living room with poop all over his bum. Next, Michael chases him down and starts wiping his bum, but with the diaper gone, he has nowhere to put the filthy wipes, so of course they go on the carpet. Finally, he puts the new diaper on, but soon realizes that he put it on backwards. He was going to leave it that way, but then the poor child's jewels were hanging out, so he decided it would probably be best to fix it. I guess I will have to train him, because soon we will have two little poop machines running around!

Well, I suppose that's enough teasing for now! Here are my most recent belly pictures!

nursery projects

Well, Michael and I have been hard at work preparing the nursery over the last few weeks. I've been crafting it up by making bedding, sewing curtains, and painting furniture. I even decided to join the blogland trend and paint an Ikea rug for the nursery! But, I'm not ready yet to show pictures of the whole room, because I have so much more to do! I will put some pictures of the projects though :)

Here is the ugly dresser before.

I'm too lazy to break out the sander, and it is way too cold to take this project into the garage, so I used a liquid sander/deglosser. It worked surprisingly well though!

Since we moved into our new house, I have been painting lots of furniture and I must say, I am really sick of it! It takes fffffffffooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeevvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrr. Or maybe I'm just impatient and a little dramatic :)

But, I must say, a little patience pays off in the end. Here is the before and after!

And, onto the rug. I decided to take a plain Ikea rug and paint on it using the "Funky Wheel" stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils. It turned out to be more difficult than I thought it would be, but it definitely adds some fun into the nursery! And, Michael was a trooper and helped me throughout the whole (tedious) project. Here is a little peek of what part of the rug looks like.

That's all the projects I will show for now :) But here are some pregnancy pictures! I feel like I am really starting to "pop" (as my husband calls it). Sometimes, when he gets home from work, he will say, "Wow! You look sooo pr [Here I think he is going to say pretty] egnant!!" lol. Then of course he follows that with a more tactful compliment :) It is really cute how excited he is for these boys to come, though.

Halfway There!!!

Saturday was my halfway mark through the pregnancy! I am finally 20 weeks pregnant. And since I'm halfway through my pregnancy with twins, I practically have a kid already, right??? Michael took me out to celebrate on Saturday. We had an awesome dinner at a steak house and then went "cosmic bowling" with two other couples from our neighborhood. Being pregnant really threw off my balance, though. I'm normally a fairly decent bowler, but this time my first three bowls went STRAIGHT into the gutter. Like, within three feet from the starting line. Sad. Luckily, I figured out how to compensate for it and beat Michael on the second game! Ha! (I'm an even worse winner than I am a loser.) Here are a couple baby bump pictures!

Gender Reveal!!!

We found out this week what the genders of our babies are!!! It is so good to finally know! We are so thrilled to announce that we are going to be the parents of

TWIN BOYS!!!!!!

If you would like to see the evidence, my boys are none to shy about showing "it" off :) The first picture is the only one I can really see what is going on. In case you can't, I will inform you that you are being mooned! Those two bones are his thigh bones, and his bum is way in the air for prime display of the family jewels ;)

In these other two pictures, all I can really see is my boys' wands. I can't really tell what else I'm seeing, but I will show them to you anyway. Enjoy!

By the end of the appointment, Michael was thoroughly proud of himself, and I had seen more little boy parts than I ever imagined. I am a little overwhelmed, because boys confuse me. I just don't understand them. Luckily, I live with someone who might understand them a little better :) My mom joked that this is the Lord's way of getting me to want more children after these two, so that I can have a little girl. But, I just think it is to try to get me to be able to say the "p" word with a straight face. Bahaha. Nope.

Valentine's Day

Well, in celebration of our two discoveries, I told Michael that I would plan our V-day date. In preparation for our impending parenthood, I decided that we should get in touch with our kid sides, so I invited him on a little kid date. To start off, we went out to eat and ordered...pizza! What kid doesn't love pizza? Then, we came home and I told him that we were going to build a fort. He got really excited. I guess some people are naturally in tune with their inner child haha. Once we worked out a couple kinks in the logistics, it came together quite nicely.

Here are a couple pictures of the inside of our little clubhouse.

And, no fort is complete without chocolate inside, so we had ours well stocked. The best part is, we set it up so that the TV was in the fort, so we could watch a kid movie in there. We searched Netflix for a family/kid movie we wanted to watch, and Michael saw something called "Mousehunt" that he remembered being SUPER funny. After we watched it, he admitted that it seemed a lot funnier when he was 8 lol.

Our next activity was a bottle drinking contest. I filled up two bottles with water, and after Michael was 110% sure that I had distributed the water equally, we started trying to drink them.

However, I had bought newborn bottles and the flow was rather s...............l................o................w. After about 6 minutes of trying, this is how far we got.

We declared Michael the winner (by a hair).

To top off the night, we exchanged cards and presents. My present was a camera, but we don't have a memory thingy yet, so a lot of these pictures are with my phone. The camera was kind of expensive and really for both of us, so his "present" was a bit of a gag gift, but he got a kick out of it. I put together a "daddy diaper kit." Take a look.

It is complete with Boudreaux's Butt Paste, hand sanitizer, gloves, and tongs. Heeheee. Michael doesn't like getting his hands dirty. If I could have found a face mask and goggles, those would be in there too :) And here's a pic of the outside of the card I gave him. Sometimes I think I'm more clever than I am lol.

In case you can't read that, it says
To: The man with all the Y-chromosomes
From: The woman who lets you use them

Again, I think I'm funnier than I am, but luckily I married a man who thinks I'm funnier than even I think I am :)

Food Poisoning and Friends

Okay, so, this is how it went down. On Tuesday, I drove down to Utah because I had a doctor's appointment that I have been waiting months for, and I figured I would visit some friends and do some shopping for the nursery while I was down there. Well, Tuesday afternoon I meet up with my best friend, Dani, and we have the brilliant idea to get some Cafe Rio to eat while we watch The Bachelor. What could go wrong with such a delicious Provo staple, right? Wrong. (Before I go on, I will try to not ruin Cafe Rio for everyone by saying that I have had food poisoning 3 times in the last 5 years. I can eat food that other people are fine with, but I get sick. I must just have a super weak stomach.)

I shouldn't post this picture. I can't even stand to look at it anymore. Well, the night goes on and I start to feel ickier and ickier. Dani and her husband, Pete, leave for the night shift while all hell breaks loose inside my sweet pork filled stomach. I started throwing up around midnight and it just kept going every 30 minutes for a few hours. At 4am, after a "woe is me" conversation with my husband, who is still in Wyoming, I decide to call my Doctor's office to see how long I would have to be throwing it up for it to be a danger to my babies. Well, the nurse on call told me that dehydration was really bad, especially with a high risk pregnancy. She told me to get my butt to the ER RIGHT NOW before the dehydration put me in pre-term labor. At 17 weeks, that scared the crap out of me, and I called Dani and she sent Pete home to drive me to the ER. Well, they hydrated me and put some Zofran in my IV. They said if I still couldn't keep fluids down in a few more hours, then I needed to come back. Unfortunately, the Zofran didn't help the nausea, it just made it so I couldn't throw up, which was even more uncomfortable.

After a sleepless night, I started trying to get myself ready for the 9:30 am appointment that I drove to Utah for in the first place, but I started throwing up again before I could make it through the door, and Dani and Pete forbade me to drive and took me to Salt Lake. Seriously, I have the best friends ever.

Dani and I at Hunger Games!!

They were already up all night working! I didn't know how I was going to make it through this very important appointment though. I threw up in the car, in the parking garage, and twice in my doctor's office. Gross. But Dani even came in with me for some moral support and to remember what he said in case I couldn't. The appointment went well and they even set me up to be hydrated in the office, so I didn't have to make another trip to the ER! After that, I was finally able to keep down ice chips, and started to feel better over the next 12-24 hours. It's funny, whenever I have food poisoning, I know that the worst is over in 24 hours, and yet it feels like the LONGEST 24 hours of my entire life!!

Well, while this might seem like a depressing post, it's really not. While food poisoning is terrible, I was so blessed over those few days. First, I have such awesome friends that are so selfless and willing to help me through a hard time. Second, I made it to my appointment that I have been waiting forever for and drove from Wyoming for (and it went well!) But most importantly, everything is great with my precious little babies! Their health and well being is all I could ever ask for.
